A previous chairman said that the Fellrunner service 'operates on goodwill' which is true because we rely
entirely on unpaid volunteers, most of whom have enjoyed being with us for many years.
We often have vacancies across a variety of roles such as drivers, vehicle maintenance, administrators, cleaners,
fundraisers and trustees. The time commitment required is largely up to you.
Drivers
- Require a full Driver’s Licence with D1 (older drivers normally have this, younger ones may need to acquire)
- Training is provided by Fellrunner to pass the MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme)
- Need to be confident negotiating Cumbria’s narrow lanes due to the rural nature of the bus services we provide.
Personal attributes
- Being comfortable with passengers and have a friendly and approachable personality
- Happy to assist less able people to access the bus
- Being available for at least 1 day per month
Vehicle maintenance
We are based at Hope's garage premises in Langwathby.
Their mechanics deal with any repairs required to the buses but the team would welcome anyone with practical maintenance skills to help
them undertake routine tasks on our buses.
Administrators
These roles are varied and require skills such as letter writing, basic computer knowledge, answering telephone calls, organisational ability
or more advanced computer skills.
These roles are usually undertaken from home.
Cleaners
The buses are pressure washed whenever necessary. On Monday mornings there are routine cleans of both the outside and inside of the buses.
Anyone with window cleaning skills would be particularly welcome!
Trustees
These roles are positions elected at the Charity Annual General Meeting in May.
With some experience of Fellrunner operations you could be nominated to the Board and assist with our long-term strategy.
Fundraisers
Do you have experience in raising charitable funds by public donations and/or corporate sponsorship?
Our buses are replaced after around 7 years and our operating profits do not meet the cost of these.
We are currently working to fund our next replacement in early 2026 and need to raise around £60,000. Could you help us achieve this?
Please
get in touch with us to discuss how you can play your part in keeping our wheels on the road.
